The Glitterbombs is a group of three talented musicians from Brighton who advocate and send a message with their gritty punk music. Their latest release, Take Two, is an album that consists of 9 amazing hit tracks. One of those tracks is LGB (with the TNB), a song that advocates pride for all our members of the queer community. The band includes Niall Sparklez as the lead singer and guitarist, Captain Jax as the backup vocals and bassist, and Jimmy Guest as the drummer.

LGB (with the TNB) is a fast-paced song with tons of distorted guitar riffs and power chords that make the song have such a striking sense. This tune isn’t just amazing for its catchy hooks that will make you scream along, the core of the song is that it stands for something, which is the LGBTQ community. This track promotes unity and an end to discrimination and hate, motivating members to raise their flag and wave it while standing beside their siblings. This makes The Glitterbombs brilliant, as they can create amazing music while advocating for a message that society needs to hear.

The album’s quality is not limited to this song, as there are other amazing tracks such as Smother, Johnny Ain’t A Tragedy, and Against the Wall. These songs share the same punk-edge style that The Glitterbombs specializes in, but each is unique and distinct.

Wexford – Silent Key

Wexford is a band from Sandusky, Ohio that brings hardcore alternative and punk music to the table—their latest album, Silent Key, has 13 amazing songs that rock with tracks like Never Give Up the Fight, Beaches, and Ode to the Battleground. Let’s focus on the album’s first track, Change Your Mind. When you listen to an album in sequential order, the first track serves as the opening setting the tone for the rest of the tracks, and Change Your Mind is a track that does not disappoint with its incredible bassline, awesome distorted guitars, and drums that push you forward. Wexford consists of Dave Mueller and Andy Kohlmann on the guitar and vocals, Shawn Daley on the bass, and Jeff Vandebussche on the drums. Together, they make music that draws influence from varied groups such as The Smashing Pumpkins, Tool, and System of a Down.

Change Your Mind starts with muted drums that transition into the intro made up of a driving rhythm led by an electric guitar in the foreground. The bassline by Shawn also enhances the guitars by doing a riff alongside the fast beat of Jeff’s drums. After the first verse, the instruments change the beat and start playing an amazing riff. Dave and Andy do a great job vocalizing and flooding it with emotion through each word and adlib. This song is intense, with a striking tone to your attention. Dynamic and loud in nature, the song ends in contrast with a classic fade to end.

CS Hellmann – Something Simple

Something Simple is a chill and relaxing song with nothing more than a simple chord progression, beat, and sincere lyrics. Written and performed by CS Hellmann, he is an artist who grew up in Cincinnati listening to classic 90s alt-rock bands. He paved the way from playing in a high school rock band to being an opening act for OneRepublic. The brand of his music comes from its simplicity and heartfelt sincere lyrics that prove you don’t have to be an incredible singer who can reach high notes to make good music.

CS Hellmann has a story that is quite endearing. After playing for about 3 years in Chicago, he went on a hiatus from music after experiencing burnout. However, after residing in Nashville the death of his friend led to him picking up old notebooks and returning to writing songs. His latest release, Something Simple is the kind of song you can play if you want to feel. Each instrument is played softly, accompanied by genuine vocals that reflect the artist’s emotion with each line.

During the bridge toward the last hook, the song starts getting louder with strings, guitars, bass, and drums emphasizing the emotion the bridge wants to convey. One thing you can appreciate about this song is the simplicity of the bassline, drums, and guitar enhanced by the keyboards and vibrant sounds that complete each part whole. Even with the basics, CS Hellmann creates amazing songs with sincerity and genuineness.

Pjos – Atlas

Pjos is a Poland-based artist born in Brazil who makes dreamy music that can relax and ease your mind and body. His latest release is Atlas, a short three-minute track with an emphasis on the instrumentals’ dreamlike sounds. Starting his music journey in 2023, Pjos takes inspiration from other artists such as Beach House. He focuses on the melancholic, slow vibe of music that creates a dreamscape for you to lie on.

Despite its short track time, Atlas is well-spent with the natural-sounding space synths and the airy guitar with layers of different sounds that complete the sound. Around the middle of the song, vocals start coming in with lots of reverb and echo that enhance the dreamscape this song has created even more. Towards the end, you’ll hear dialogue that resembles communication between astronauts and NASA space engineers. Together these elements create a great song that transcends space and time and leaves you in a trance. Pjos is a genre-defining artist who makes dreamy music well with his emotional soundscapes.

There are two more parts to Atlas: Atlas (Epilogue) and Atlas (Distant Dream). The epilogue is similar to the original song, but this time in collaboration with Sabrina Stachel, a Polish violinist and orchestra conductor who replicated the song through the violin, giving it a different feel. Distant Dream, on the other hand, is much like the same song but has a more distorted and intense feel.

Friends Quinn Erwin, Bryan Bourque, and Justin Gollott come together to create beautiful songs that represent the simplicity of life from the corners of the street to the alleyways across the town. Fragile Creatures – Don’t Know What To Do

Don’t Know What To Do is a heartfelt song resembling the band’s anxiety and lack of motivation in a contrasting catchy tone. Released by Fragile Creatures in 2023, this hit is the kind of song you can listen to as you reflect on life and the uncertainties of the future. Fragile Creatures was formed in Brighton dating all the way back to 2012 and is currently building up an album for this year. The core of the band are Adam Kidd, Tom Alty, and Aaron Neville. Recent additions include James Crump on the drums and Adam Whittles on the bass. Don’t Know What To Do is a simple yet genre-defining beautiful song.

Despite its catchy and upbeat tone, the theme of the song and the lyrics are quite the opposite. This hit talks about negativity and the uneasy feeling of having no purpose and being lost in a storytelling manner throughout the track. The exceptional drum roll at the beginning of the song and the rock-ballad style of the jumpy bass and guitar has the listener hooked in, catching its attention. This carries on, and leads to mesmerizing parts of the song as the guitar detaches from the jumpy bass and starts playing high notes and riffs emphasizing shifting the tone. The vocals and the whole song just has a certain swing feel to it that makes your body unconsciously dance. This sort of realistic and grounded and genre-defining music is Fragile Creatures’ trademark. If you’re feeling lost and want to rock out and feel at the same time this song is the way to go.
