Naomi Neva – Ernestine

Naomi Neva is back to release another great track, this time in the style of a garage rock anthem. In contrast with Still Singing for You, this bold song is a lot more striking and definitive. Naomi is an artist who grew up in Oakland, California and started writing songs in the forests near her home as a child. She played in a punk band with her sisters during high school and is known for her emotive storytelling and exceptional vocals. Her upcoming track, Ernestine, pays homage to her punk band with its louder, bolder, and grungier sound.

The track is written and named after Naomi’s best friend, a powerful message about women’s empowerment and those who live on their terms. The song begins with a loud bass line, and immediately with raw captivating vocals. The verse is backed with a simple bass drum and lead guitar licks. As the first verse ends, the melody transitions into a slower, angelic chant that eventually explodes into the emotive hook which is the main highlight of the song. During this part, the vocals feel incredibly raw and emotive strengthening it as a song about independence and sisterhood. During the hooks, the punk-guitar riffs start to play power chords that are bold and loud. After the first hook, the next parts of the song stay strong and effective, driving listeners to keep listening forward.

Be on the lookout for Ernestine by Naomi Neva, releasing on February 7, 2025.
