Goddamn Wolves – Barricades Are Overrun

Goddamn Wolves is an indie rock band that blends different elements such as classic influences creating a unique and amazing underground rock meets pop style. Their latest release, Barricades Are Overrun is said to be their most ambitious project yet, and the best of their work with its catchy hooks, heavy guitar riffs, and memorable vocals throughout the song. The band consists of a small group of three, with Chris Weilding on the guitar, Laura McCullough on the bass, and Drew Foglia on the drums. All three share the microphone regarding the vocals, with Chris Weilding leading the band as the singer/songwriter.

The song represents the combination of classic rock from the past with the present pop tone of today’s music. Enhanced by the Found After Dark Audio engineers Max Gowan and Travis Harrington, Goddamn Wolves have completely revolutionized their music by refining their sound into a louder, but cleaner mixture. An example of this is the B side, called Intervention. It is one of the group’s earliest songs on their self-titled EP released in 2018.

Barricades Are Overrun mixes beautiful vocals from both Chris and Laura and a catchy chord progression accompanied by consistent drums. One unique thing about the song’s structure is how it eases into the hook, and has a gradual build-up giving it a feel-good vibe that you can run to. This perfectly encapsulates the song’s theme, elevating it as its own.
